The ink on Peter was not what caught my attention. Rather it was the warmth of his eyes and countenance. There is something gentile about his gaze that is in contrast to the ink on his body. It is an appealing juxtaposition and something I wanted to capture. The white thermal is the transition from his face to the stark reality of his body art.
When I met Peter, his look was harder than I expected. When I booked the shoot with him, he had a full head of hair in his modeling portfolio. So you can imagine my surprise when I picked him up at the airport and his head was shaved. Models sometimes change their appearance before they show up. Hairy chests are suddenly smooth, clean chests are covered with enormous tattoos, long hair is buzzed down. It happens and I have to quickly pivot my vision.
Peter is a tall, built, goodlooking, pale guy from Milwaukee. With hair, he looks like just an average hardworking Midwestern joe. But with his head shaved, the beard and tatts give a ‘skinhead’ vibe. Luckily I had picked soft bright fabrics for him to wear. This white thermal and some orange terry cloth shorts took the edge off just enough to help him feel approachable. But the dangerous vibe can also be a turn on.
Either way, Peter is the nicest guy. So chatty and easy to work with. We had a nice lunch after the shoot and continue to chat every now and then just to check in with each other. He is also very proud of everything about his body, and really enjoys showing off. If you ever see him at a bar, he might just challenge you to a measuring contest lol. If you subscribe to SKSY, you will see his entire body.
